On-Screen Keyboard
The On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) is a virtual keyboard that appears on the computer screen. You can type using your mouse, touchscreen, or other pointing devices.
Uses of On-Screen Keyboard:
- Helps when the physical keyboard is not working
- Useful for touchscreen devices
- Supports people with physical disabilities
- Helpful in case of missing keys or damaged keyboard
Open On-Screen Keyboard (OSK):

- Click on the Start Menu.
- Type On-Screen Keyboard in the search bar
- Click on the On-Screen Keyboard app to open it.
Shortcut:
Press Windows Key + Ctrl + O to open quickly.
Use:
- A keyboard will appear on your screen.
- Click on the keys using your mouse or touchscreen.
- You can use it in MS Word, browsers, or any typing area.
Features of On-Screen Keyboard:
- Looks like a real keyboard
- Can be moved anywhere on the screen
- Has Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Function keys (F1–F12)
- Supports language and layout changes
When to Use It in Lab:
- If a student’s keyboard is not working
- While teaching about keyboard functions
